DrakonSign
E-signatures with evidence built to be checked, not just trusted.
Send a document, get inbox-verified signatures back, and keep a hash-chained evidence record for every envelope. Completion records the measured outcome of the cryptographic sealing attempt and issues a certificate of completion. Built by Drakon to sign its own tenancy paperwork, now open to founding customers who send routine business documents.
From £15/month · Live SaaS hosted in London
Features
What it does.
Hash-chained audit trail
Every envelope carries an append-only event log — created, sent, viewed, signed, completed — each event linked to the one before it by a SHA-256 hash. Alter, remove or reorder a record and every hash after it stops matching. You can recompute and check it yourself, any time.
Cryptographic document seal
On completion DrakonSign attempts a self-issued PAdES B-T seal with independent RFC 3161 timestamping, then records the measured result. A validated seal normally appears in standard readers as cryptographically valid but from an untrusted issuer unless you add Drakon's root; timestamp or validation failures are disclosed rather than hidden.
Certificate of completion
A separate, auto-generated PDF with its own SHA-256 fingerprint is issued for every envelope that completes — not an appendix bound into the signed document.
Checkable evidence bundle
Download a write-once bundle carrying every audit record, every timestamp token in raw form, and the exact wording each signer accepted. Hash chains and externally anchored timestamp tokens can be checked independently; other fields remain assertions issued by Drakon.
Email + one-time-code verification
Signers confirm control of their inbox with a 6-digit one-time code before the document is served. That supports attribution to the named inbox — it doesn't verify a person's identity.
Automatic field placement
Signature and date fields are placed automatically using deterministic label matching, so you're not dragging boxes onto every document you send.
Plain-English signer summary
An optional, advisory summary of what's being signed is shown to the signer in plain language alongside the document itself.
REST API + API keys
The document-signing workflow — upload, place fields, send, track and retrieve evidence — is available through the API too. It's what Drakon's own tenancy-pack workflow runs on.
UK-hosted, disclosed backups
The app, database and live documents run in London on Fly.io and a separate single-region Tigris bucket. Encrypted nightly backups are kept 30 days in a separate, globally distributed bucket — stated plainly, not buried.
No trackers, hardened headers
No analytics, advertising or tracking scripts anywhere. Signing pages set no cookies and are served with a strict Content-Security-Policy and clickjacking protection.
Simple, published pricing
No per-document fees, no per-signer fees, no hidden compliance tier. Plans start at £15/month and every plan includes the full trust layer.
How it works
4 simple steps.
Upload & place fields
Upload your document. Signature and date fields are placed automatically, or adjust them yourself.
Send
Add signers and send. Each gets a personal, expiring link — no account required on their side.
Sign
The signer confirms their inbox with a one-time code, reviews the document, and signs.
Verify
On completion you get the signed PDF, a certificate of completion, and an audit trail you can recompute from the dashboard or API.
Document suitability
Which documents fit today.
Whether an e-signature is right for a given document depends on that document’s own formalities and the law that governs it — that’s your call, or your solicitor’s, not ours. Here’s how we’d frame it.
May suit
Routine, lower-risk agreements that may suit a simple electronic signature, subject to independent advice where it matters:
- Engagement letters
- HR acknowledgements and offer letters
- Supplier and vendor agreements
- Ordinary commercial agreements
- Licences to occupy and short serviced-office agreements not granted by deed
Take independent advice first
Higher-value or regulated workflows where an independent professional should confirm the signing method before you send:
- High-value commercial contracts
- Regulated-sector paperwork
- Anything a counterparty says needs a qualified signature
Do not use for
Documents with prescribed signing formalities that DrakonSign does not meet:
- Deeds and anything executed as a deed
- Conveyancing and Land Registry transfers
- Wills and lasting powers of attorney
- Statutory declarations and affidavits
- Documents requiring witnessing or attestation
- Court filings with prescribed signature requirements
- Anything requiring wet ink, AES or QES
The signing certificate is self-issued: readers show it as valid but from an untrusted issuer unless you add Drakon’s root yourself. DrakonSign does not carry Advanced or Qualified Electronic Signature status, and nothing here is legal advice or a guarantee that any particular document is enforceable — that depends on the document’s own formalities and the law that governs it. If you’re unsure where your document sits, take independent legal advice first. The canonical document-suitability guide explains the product exclusions in more detail.
